ISO/TR 15608 ISO/TR 15608 Material Group 1.2

ISO/TR 15608 Material Group 1.2 : Low carbon steels (C ≤ 0,25%;) with a specific minimum yield strength 275 N/mm2 < ReH ≤ 360 N/mm2 a and with follow analysis:
C ≤ 0,25%; Si ≤ 0,60%; Mn ≤ 1,8%; Mo ≤ 0,70%b; S ≤ 0,045%; P ≤ 0,045%; Cu ≤ 0,40%b; Ni ≤ 0,5%b; Cr ≤ 0,3%b; (0,4% for castings; Nb ≤0,06%; V ≤ 0,1%b; Ti ≤0,05%;

Remarks:
a In accordance with the specification of steel product standards, ReH may be replaced by Rp0,2 or Rt0,5;
b A higher value is accepted, provided Cr+Mo+Ni+Cu+V ≤ 0,75%

Features of low carbon steels ISO/TR 15608 material group 1.2

The carbon of low carbon steels is limited with C ≤ 0,25 %. )Non-alloy steels or low carbon steels are those that contain other alloying elements such as manganese, chromium, nickel, vanadium, or titanium in smaller quantities. In terms of quality, they can be with special characteristics in terms of toughness, grain size, formability, yield strength, ductility, cold formability and weldability.

Specified yield strength: 275 < ReH ≤ 360 N/mm2

Applications of materials in ISO/TR 15608 material group 1.2

Due to the moderate carbon content and the specified low alloy constituents, the steels in this material group are suitable for application temperatures up to approx. 300 °C. These steels also have specified strength characteristics such as yield strength or tensile strength. These characteristics make this material group essential in the manufacture of parts and machinery, pressure equipments for the chemical industry, the oil industry and other industries, among others.
