The term pressure-bearing housing refers to an envelope in which fluid under pressure PS > 0,5 [bar] is contained or transported (volume V > 0 [m3]).
They are typically used for pressure accessories such as valves, filters, pressure regulators, measurement chambers, pressure gauges, liquid gauge glasses, expansion joints and manifolds.
Note 1: A pressure bearing housing is a one of two definition for a pressure accessory: Pressure bearing housing & function.
Note 2: For classifying pressure accessories such as valves is in some cases both volume (of pressure bearing housing) and DN are considered appropriate. In this cat the pressure accessory must be classified in the highest category.
If the pressure-bearing housing can be classified as a main pressure bearing part, corresponding material inspection certificates 3.1 EN 10204 used must be requested, especially if the pressure equipment is in category II, III or IV.
